Why Should You Hire a Personal Trainer?

There are a variety of reasons you may want to work with a personal trainer including:

You want to lose weight
You're not seeing results
You don't know where to start
You're bored with your workouts
You want to learn how to exercise
You need accountability and motivation
You have an illness or injury

A trainer can help you navigate the confusing world of exercise, fitness and weight loss and help you find the right program for your goals.
Your First Session
Once you contact me, we will set up a meeting at your convenience where we'll talk about your goals, health history, exercise attitudes and experience, dietary habits and whether personal training is right for you. The session will last 60 minutes and during that time we might also perform a fitness assessment, take your measurements and record other vital statistics. If you have any health issues, injuries, illnesses or other conditions, you may need a doctor's clearance before we can proceed.
What You Need
1.  Appropriate clothing.  For your first session, you'll want to dress in comfortable workout clothes - shorts, tee shirt or other workout wear. You'll also want to wear quality athletic shoes - running shoes, cross-trainers, etc.
2.  Equipment: If you have any equipment such as weights, resistance bands, an exercise ball, etc., you'll want to gather that equipment in a clear space where there's room to move. You don't need any equipment! If you don't have anything, I'll bring a few portable items and we can talk about anything else you might want to buy at some point.
3.  A workout space: You don't need a separate workout room, but you will need a well-ventilated, comfortable place for our sessions.
4.  An hour of free time: All session last an hour, so you'll need to set aside that time and turn off the phone and make sure the kids and pets are taken care of. This is your time! To get the most out of your sessions, try to get rid of as many distractions as possible.
5.  Honesty: Personal training is all about you and helping you reach your goals. Being honest about your past, your attitudes about exercise and what you hope to get out of personal training is the only way to get the most outof personal training. Never be afraid to ask question, make suggestions or bring up anything you don't understand.
